How long have you been in business?
Clayton Plastic Surgery Specialists have been in business since 1963 when John L Clayton, MD started his practice as one of the first few plastic surgeons in Utah. The practice was expanded in 1981 when Dr. Clayton’s son, David Clayton, MD, joined the practice. One year later, another son, John N Clayton, MD, joined as well. The three Drs Clayton practiced together until the retirement of the founder, John L Clayton, MD, in 1997. Drs John N Clayton, and David Clayton joined Intermountain Health Care in 2009.
What is your primary product or service?
We specialize in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. We are trained to the rigorous standards of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and have provided some of the finest cosmetic surgery in Utah for many years. The practice has become internationally known - we treat patients from all over the United States and many parts of the world.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
David N Clayton, MD, FACS: When I was very young, my father, John L Clayton, MD, used to take me with him to the emergency room when he was called to see facial injury patients. I was so fascinated by the experience, that I always knew I would join my dad in the practice of Plastic Surgery.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Cosmetic Plastic Surgery is done differently by every practitioner out there. At Clayton Plastic Surgery (now Alta View Plastic Surgery), we are focused exclusively on what we love and do best - cosmetic plastic surgery. As a result of the attention to every detail, our patients have always done well, and we have many cards and letters from satisfied patients expressing their appreciation. Most of our patients have been referred by other satisfied patients, and we count among them the families of many of the anesthesiologists and others who work in the operating room with us.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are located on the campus of IHC's Alta View Hospital. Next year we will be welcoming a 3rd GENERATION of Claytons to the practice of plastic surgery when John N Clayton’s son, John Larsen Clayton, MD, will be finishing his training at the University of North Carolina, and will be locating his office both here and at the campus of IHC’s Riverton Hospital!

We accept all major credit cards, and we offer other financing options.
Which areas do you service?
We take care of patients from all over the Wasatch Front and other areas of Utah. We are known nationally and even internationally for our cosmetic surgery.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We are a part of Intermountain Health Care (IHC)
What are your hours of operation?
Regular office hours are M-F from 9am to 5pm. We are available after hours including nights and weekends for emergencies.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
The best compliment that a plastic surgeon can have is for members of the hospital operating room staff to refer family members to your care. This is a common occurrence for Drs. John and David Clayton!
